The Atlanta Braves lost out on Max Fried earlier this offseason and they're likely to miss out on Charlie Morton as well. Atlanta struggled with starting pitching depth in 2024, and it could become an even bigger problem heading into 2025. FanSided's Cody Williams recently pitched an intriguing idea for the Braves. Williams suggested the Braves could look to trade for Arizona Diamondbacks pitcher Jordan Montgomery, who's more than likely headed out of Arizona this winter. "With Burnes now in Arizona, there frankly isn't a spot in the D'Backs rotation for Montgomery after his ill-fated signing with the club after missing spring training," Williams wrote. "It was an abject disaster for the southpaw in the desert, pitching in 25 games to a dismal 6.23 ERA with a 1.65 WHIP. Now, the Diamondbacks front office has made not bones about the fact they want to move on but, after Montgomery opted in, they'll have to trade him. "But that's where the Braves could be interested. Yes, last year was a disaster for Montgomery. However, it also looks like the outlier based on his previous three seasons." Montgomery would be very easy to trade for. The Diamondbacks seemingly want him gone so bad that they'll eat a large chunk of his deal to trade him. It likely wouldn't cost the Braves any top 30 prospects either. With Montgomery's upside being as high as it could be, this might not be a terrible idea for the Braves to pursue. Among the four PSLC categories, the small and marginal farmers category registered the highest trading volume, partly reflecting specialisation by a few banks in lending to this category of borrowers and the inability of other banks to meet sub-targets through direct lending, the RBI said in its report on Trends and Progress of Banking. In the past five years, private sector banks have emerged as major sellers of PSLCs. In FY24, they accounted for 49% of total sales as compared with 21% in the case of PSBs, the RBI said. (AP) — New York Giants quarterback Tommy DeVito came out of his first start of the season with a sore throwing arm and his status for Thursday's game against the Cowboys in Dallas is uncertain. DeVito was not listed on Monday's injury report and coach Brian Daboll said he did not know about the injury to the quarterback's right arm until just before the team had a walkthrough practice on Tuesday. Daboll said he was hopeful DeVito would play, but he added that backup Drew Lock will get a couple of extra snaps in the short workout. “If Tommy is good, then Tommy will be the guy,” Daboll said. Having played on Sunday, the Giants (2-9) are prepping for the Cowboys (4-7) with walkthroughs. After the workout on Tuesday, DeVito said his whole body was still sore, even his neck. He planned to test his arm on Wednesday before the team headed to Dallas. “The plan is to play," DeVito said. “We’ll see how I feel tomorrow. Hopefully wake up feeling a little bit better after I get some more treatment today. Looking forward to tomorrow.” DeVito was given the starting job last week when Daboll benched Daniel Jones after five straight losses. The U.S. Federal Reserve has several key data reports coming before it makes its own decision on Dec. 18, said Headland, including inflation. Markets are currently leaning toward a quarter-percentage-point cut from the Fed, he said.
